Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, is a region that forms coastal towns and small communities in the southern part of the province of Málaga, in the autonomous region of Andalusia. Previously, the coast consisted of small, quiet fishing villages, but the region was completely changed in the last half of the 20th century. The area is now a world-famous tourist area with an almost continuous belt of cities and tourist areas along the entire coastline.

The Costa del Sol extends west along the Mediterranean coast from Nerja past Málaga city to the east of the border with Cádiz province. There have lived people in the region from the Bronze Age, and the area has been under foreign rule from different cultures such as Phoenicians, Cartoons, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Moors, before Reconquista.
